Sheryl regularly represents health care, academic and corporate institutions, counseling them in all aspects of labor and employment law. Sheryl represents her clients at all stages of litigation in state and federal judicial proceedings and also appears regularly before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. Sheryl provides day-to-day advice on a wide range of matters, including discipline and discharge, leaves of absence, wage and hour law, labor and employee relations, plant closings, and reductions in force. Sheryl's practice also focuses on preventive employment practices, including human resource policy development, and statutory and regulatory compliance. Sheryl represents employers at all stages of union organizational efforts, and represents and guides employers through all stages of regulatory investigation. Representative Cases & Matters LABOR & EMPLOYMENT LAW Litigation : Regularly defends employers in state and federal court and in state and federal administrative hearings against claims in all aspects of labor and employment law. Arbitration/Mediation : Represents clients in labor arbitration and in settlement mediation. Investigations : Represented and successfully guided employers through investigations by Attorney General's office and U.S. Department of Labor into charges of FMLA, FLSA, and state wage and hour violations. Unfair Labor Practice Charges : Regularly defends employers at National Labor Relations Board against a range of unfair labor practice charges. Counsel and Advice : Provides ongoing representation and advice regarding labor and employee relations, union representation proceedings, human resource policies, and statutory and regulatory compliance, including FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, USERRA, and WARN Act compliance. Union Representation Proceedings : Counsels and represents employers at all stages of unionization efforts. Prior Experience Sheryl formerly interned at both the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, and the Trial Division of the Attorney General's office. She is a former Newton PTA President and former member of the Newton School Improvement Council. Sheryl is a member of the bars of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
